The home for help with the United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential System
Welcome
We are a here to help you navigate the rules and regulations of the Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential System. From the sports fishing guide to the supertanker captain, we can help with what you need to do.
Beginning April 15, 2009 the US Coast Guard implemented the Merchant Marine Credential (MMC) System, a system that is closely integrated with the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) enrollment program administered by Transportation Security Administration. The MMC replaces all existing licenses, documents, and certificates previously issued by the US Coast Guard in one passport style credential. These credentials are issued as domestic officers endorsements, domestic rating endorsement, international STCW endorsements.
All Merchant Mariner Credential applications are processed at the National Maritime Center (NMC) and each month they receive thousands of applications. The National Maritime Center recently published that the processing time for a “perfect application” averages around 30 days. Delays of as much as several months can occur for applications that are less than perfect. Merchant Mariner Consulting can help you assemble the “perfect application” and thereby avoiding long delays.
